Playing devils advocate for a moment, why would this piece of information be more accurate than the plan they didn't follow to make the track?

Edit: It could be the planned length or the final length.

If it is correct is it centreline, inside curb, or racing line, or...?

Quoted Distances are always centreline. They are also measured from the 3d line, so any vertical diviation adds to the distance.

The 4129 m is the real and current track length in finished state. From their website.
Why the plan doesn't match ? Have no idea :). Maybe it is simply old (I found it on Facebook somewhere), or maybe while doing the works some things were modified.
I have also used a center line spline to measure it in Blender.

"Luckly", the track is flat as a pancake in the pan..

so how are you goin to get it to 4129 metres then ?

too hot to work on track stuff today, besides I got a prison to escape from lol (the escapists 2)

Will slightly scale up the maps version. Until I get to recover those 100 lost meters.

    Oh booooy ....
I'm in supporting this request. Also beta testing :)
Also if there is anything I can help with in order for this track to be decent/usable, let me know.

    any updates ?

    Hey there :)

It's the one help we ask ANYBODY watching this thread: if there is ANY chance getting your hands on any kind of plans from the track, it would be tremendous help. Track itself is mostly flat, so we don't need really accurate elevation data. However, it would be very nice to get the curves radius right, so that it can be used as a training tool before doing track days there.

Otherwise, the track is driveable. I'll see how soon I could put a beta version out for testing.

I have the local "urbanistic plan" that you have on the other page and I also have this very small map with all the corners radius marked. I think this might make some sense to you, at least more than it does to me.
Then there is the raceoptimal map, wich is really high resolution (you can have that on their page, I have attached a small version too). https://www.raceoptimal.com/maps/MotorParkRomania
I did an overlay of these two and they are very close.

Didn't know about this race optimal map, could be very useful !

First plan would be ideal indeed, except that it's probably old, before the actual works. For example turn 8 seems to tighten more IRL than it does in the plan.

What is the green map ? Seems very good !

green one is the tiny radius info one.
    red one is the raceoptimal.

also some corners feel and look totally different at ground level than at topview-plan, it might also be the case here.

Well, idea would be to chose the "best" one as blueprint, and use that for a beta version.
When the real feedback can come. Do you have RL experience on this track ?

Truth be told, I have very little experience there. :(
Just a couple of sessions in passenger place, but at least they were different cars so I have an ideea how a lap sould feel around there. (stock FWD car / tweaked RWD car / time attack S2000 on semislick)

L.E.: This is a fresh/new piece of film with mainly aerial footage that offers very good perspective on the track and some corners in special. It's available in 4K:

Hello guys. I can talk to the owner of the circuit. What do you need more exactly?

    Hi !
An as up-to-date plan of the circuit, ideally with elevations measurements in some key points. I know the track is mostly flat, so just a few points here and there would be enough.
Failing that, well then anything they could share - plans, or surveys, or laserscan :D, anything :). The idea is to have an accurate reference to base the modelling onto. For example the plan that is post #9 seems to be obsolete - maybe some stuff got changed when doing the actual works.

    Thanks in advance :)

    Hi!
I'm glad I can help. I'll let you know as soon as I receive the mail with all the data. Also we can do 3D mapping with DJI phantom 4. Would it help?

    Absolutely !!!

  17. Hi all!

My friend, Gabriel44 told me about the Motorpark Romania project that is currently beeing developed. I saw the map and so far it looks great. So congrats!!!
If it will help somehow, I can share with you guys some aerial clips shot in May this year. I have uploaded them on wetransfer and for 1 week those clips will be availabe for download: https://we.tl/yCglUn4a85
For the moment we are awaintg for the owner to send an email with the plans you guys need it.
About the 3D mapping of the area, I could do it with my drone but first I would need a program for it. Got any ideea for a free program that I could use for this project in particular?

Hi @ArcusProduction , welcome to the forums (cheers @Gabriel44 ).

Will have a look at the videos (downloading as we speak). It's awesome that we have access to a drone. The question is, what is the best use we can make of it.

From my point of view, ideal would be to make a photography survey. Meaning to follow the track at a set altitude, and stop every 20m (or 10 m, or 5m - depending how much time & access you have to the track :D), to take photos (not videos). At highest resolution available. Idea would be to stitch those photos together to create a 1:1 aerial view in high resolution. Assuming that lens distortion could be minimized this could be used to:
    - compare the final track and see if curves/radius align
    - use it as a 1:1 texture for the terrain
    - use it to align all the objects on the track

I don't know yet if there is any software dedicated to drone-survey, as this is the first time somebody (kindly) offered to try this :). I remember I have seen some YT videos 1-2 years back, for exactly this kind of things, and the result was impressive. I'll try to document some more quickly.

@LilSKi , @Pixelchaser , @GT VIRUS @all, do you guys know more on the subject ? Or have some ideas on how to best make use of this opportunity ? Thank you in advance.

I'm really excited, because yesterday got rid of something that was taking me a lot of time, and I would gladly use the new gained time do some modelling in the next period. Enjoy it while it lasts, right ? :).

  19. @luchian the idea with the photos from 5m to 5m can be done. About the software, i know Pix4D is a great one but it costs a certain amount of money only for 1 month of usage. @Gabriel44 found a software named DroneDeploy https://www.dronedeploy.com/ and it has a free trial. To be honest, I don not find enough info about this "free trial" and the extend of usage.

Yeah, I was on their website just now :). I found this:

Start your 30-day free trial of DroneDeploy Pro. No credit card required. Trial limited to 10 maps and models.

And then in the pricing chart, it seems that even with the Free account it's possible to do something.
Then there is the Pro, for 30 days that gives access to additional features, especially max upload photos and size.

    https://www.dronedeploy.com/pricing.html

    Worth a shot ?
How big is a photo in good/max resolution ?

Otherwise, there is quite some info on YouTube on the "how" to generally do drone surveys.
Like this series (haven't watched it yet):
    Code:

On the processing though, I am afraid all the serious solutions are paid.

Will also look at this (open source):

    Based on this: http://opendronemap.org/

I see also https://flylitchi.com/, but I am guessing is just for planning the flight, or stuff like that.
